Installing storm door over Hardie board trim

Post by stoneburner » Thu Nov 07, 2019 9:07 am

Hello,

I need to install a storm door on my house and am wondering what the best approach is to install it over Hardie board trim. I'm thinking that I should drill through the Hardie board and use extra long screws to ensure they go through the Hardie board and into the wood behind it. I know Hardie board won't hold screws.

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmmm interesting. Yes it sounds like you have the right idea. Before you get too far be sure the opening dimensions of the trim does not exceed the max . opening for the door you have purchased.
