Qs on powering carriage lights at a garage door

Post by Flywelder » Sat Jan 11, 2020 3:27 pm

So. I'm hoping to hang decorative carriage lights on each side of my 9 foot garage door. Can I power those from tapping into the junction box, of one of the lights, in the ceiling of the garage? And,still have them on their own seperate switch in a gang box? Would that pass national code? I'm thinking yes I can, yet still I want your input also.

Yes if there is constant power at the ceiling light for you to join to?

I would grab whatever you can easily grab a hold of for a power source. Coach lights outside the garage are pretty inconsequential, so whether you power from an existing light circuit or an outlet circuit isn't going to matter.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
