Video: How To Change Your Water Heater Anode Rod
Changing your water heater anode rod every two years is said to extend the life of your water heater up to double.
So I believe that the 20 minutes to do it and about $30 for the new rod is well worth it! The reason for this video is to show you just how easy it is to replace this important part yourself.
Just be sure to drain off five gallons or so of water from the heater after you have shut off the water supply. Remember your heater is full of potentially scalding hot water and by draining the 5 gallons and opening a hot water tap somewhere in your home this should reduce or eliminate the pressure build up in the tank before you remove the old anode rod.
